Caroling for the Seniors

On December 1st, our troop went caroling to the St. Joseph
Senior Home in Woodbridge. Our "friends" enjoyed our songs
plus the girls played their new recorders. SO CUTE!
Afterwards, the troops sat with the seniors to spread some
holiday cheer (and calories!) and they all made adorable
gingerbread houses. See everyone at the troop holiday party
at Henderson's Gymnastics on Saturday 12/22.

Our girls are "Fashion Stars"!

The girls of Troop 81423 were treated to a special afternoon
with Graphic Artist (and Auntie) Dawnmarie McDermid and
Fashion Designer Beth Lucas. Dawn and Beth inspired our
little divas to be designers with a great presentation about
their careers and a hands-on activity to design their own
outfits. What fun! Thank you Dawn and Beth!

Great job reading at Saint Joseph's Senior Home

Troop,

I just wanted to send a note and say that I thought everyone
did such a great job at Saint Joseph's Senior Home - again!

I love, love, love listening to the little conversations
between the girls and the seniors :)

I also thought the girls did quite a nice job reading.
Reading in public is not easy to do in general, but reading
to a group of strangers, in a loud room, with "challenged"
hearing is even harder. I was very impressed with our
girls!

Sister Z left me a vmail at home already tonight to thank
us. She just raved about the girls and how polite they
were. She said she loves to see children in the residence
home and cannot wait for us to visit again. Sister also
commented (yet again!) about the cute yellow shirts and how
"well dressed" the girls all were. Ker - nice job on those
shirts - we are getting a ton of compliments this year ;)

Next meeting is this Saturday 5/5 from 1-3 at Microsoft. We
have fantastic guest speakers coming to talk about fashion
design and graphic design. The girls will "create" outfits
and do a fashion show. If a parent can stay for the first
15 minutes on Saturday, I'd like to review the rest of the
calendar and the process to purchase tickets to the 100th
anniversary party.

Great Job at Saint Joseph's

I just wanted to send a note and say that I thought everyone
did such a great job at Saint Joseph's Senior Home. It
exceeded all of my expectations! I thought the girls did a
fantastic job with the seniors - they really impressed me.
I loved listening to their conversations and watching them
interact during the crafts. It is not easy to do that,
especially when you are 8 and under, and I thought it was
just so so so impressive. Nice job!

Mr. Charles (the manager) was also impressed and asked us to
come back in the future :)

Special thanks to Carol Kuntz for her fruit trays (what a
hit!), Dawn for serving, Lisa for egg supplies, Erica for
flower tutorials and supplies, and everyone else for their
craft supplies. Great, great job!

Girl Scouts Winter Schedule

Welcome to 2012! The troop site has been updated with the
new Winter schedule. Please take a look and mark your
calendars.

As we reviewed today, it is Girl Scout cookie sale time! Oh
boy! The sale officially starts on Thursday, January 19th.
Your individual cookie orders are due to Dawn at each
meeting (on Saturdays). She will arrange a time for you for
pickup one day that week. The goal per girl is to sell 120
boxes. Our troop cookie manager's name and address is Dawn
Scalise devinsmom98@verizon.net. If you have any questions
about cookies, let Dawn know.

Next meeting is 1/28 at Verne Fowler in Colonia.
